Honored, its my choice and my responsibility

Typically we have two holidays each year to honor our parents. But, the sad news is there is more opportunities for all of us to show our appreciation for the love (and many other blessings) we received from our parents to a world of great kids that have no parents to love.

Scripture reminds us in Ephesus: Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.”

To often we are concerned in what is good for us, and in a world that shares a lot of kids that have no parents or even a chance of a normal life, we should be thankful for our parents.

What does the Bible say about fathers? God has made him your father for a reason, and you will be blessed for honoring him. Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. Proverbs 23:22 Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

I am certain that many today would reflect good and bad responses to these verses, as all of us travel different journeys from our birth to adulthood. No one has the perfect parents but I am certain like myself where I didn’t see the flaws in my parents or even the challenges that they endured- because they wanted me to see the world through guarded eyes and have special memories to share with my children.

After many of my own failed attempts in relationships, I can clearly understand why my children were frustrated with me and I traveled a difficult journey than what I desired.

But I still can remember growing up as a boy where I cannot recall even once not getting something I wanted that would cause me to hate my parents.

Oh, I sure would have liked more time with both my parents, but I understand better as a big brother that helping my parents with my brothers was a chore then – but I never was ever separated from them till I joined the military.

What is significant is that we had many moms and dads in our lives watching out for us through our whole childhood. Today we see so many kids that are described as latch key who defend for themselves because of difficult circumstances in relationships and financial problems.

In just a few decades, all of us could be writing this story. But the big question is was I/we honoring our parents when we should and if we could go back in time, would we have acted differently?

I have seen both sides of this story and it is sad because a few possible changes in everyone’s choices could brought better results.

Time does fly by quickly and if we don’t do what we were asked to do from the beginning, we all share the fault somehow. It’s when we learn to forgive and love one another that brings better chances for sunshine versus doom and gloom all over again.

I will admit there is a lot of pain in this world, but possibly if we could look at all the roads that lead us to where we currently are today, we could see where wrong turns that lead us to difficult places, all of us would wish to hit the rewind button.

I find myself today many years later, apologizing to my father for not being there more and only hearing him reply, “ it’s okay, I have you now, and I don’t want to go back to the past, I want to move forward in our relationship.

I love every minute I spend with my dad, and I apologize a lot and he forgives me every time. I don’t disagree with him, because it’s not really important in the big picture, because I cherish every moment I can have with him.

I also cherish every moment I have with my children and my grandchildren because they are special. Time is not forever as I remember burying my mother many years ago.

I loved her but our relationship had become distant till she shared with me why. I cried when I heard something I could have done to keep our relationship in tact, but it was to late.

Today I have some autistic kids in my life that lost their parents, and I give them all the love and attention humanly possible. Their grandma tells me, “those boys honor you.” And all I do is smile. You see all of us have the opportunity to make someone’s life a little bit better- and it’s possible we are allowing them to love and honor through difficult circumstances but they are attempting to do what (God) was asking all of us to do from the beginning.

I am certain apologies are still acceptable in our lives but, are we willing to work out the differences to get new beginnings?

I do know one Father who will help you in any difficulty you are facing to a better sunshiny day, and perhaps we should make a Happy Fathers Day greeting for him – because He is our Father!

Happy Fathers Day to all and thanks to all those dads who look to share their hearts with other kids!

I Love You + No Strings Attached

Christmas is only a few hours away unless you live somewhere different it could possibly be only a few hours away. For many this is a dreaded day of memories that make going through another holiday more difficult than many of us can relate to today. It is said that more tragedies occur during the Holliday season more than any other day. Possibly because that day was not a memory that anyone would want to relive.

My heart goes out to the families who last year lost someone special – – and not having them today to share the season makes it even harder. What if this year you experienced a relationship that ended – – and even now as you attempt to wonder why it all happened only makes you cry more. How could anyone want to experience this thing called love and then to loose it or painfully have it ripped from your hands… why God, why?

The Bible tells us two specific stories about a babe that was born in a stable with animals and all the filth that goes in a barn, a child who was to change the shape of the world that was heading toward chaos, and this little one was the only answer to all the problems that were going no where fast. Why was a miracle child born in a manger? Why not in the best hospital in the world and delivered by the best obstetrician that money could purchase? Would the religious leaders believe then he was a King… when the Bethlehem Gazette published the first baby born on Christmas Day?

And the other story of a carpenter’s son whose dad was employed by the best DIY company was teaching about loving one another and that His Father loved them so much that he sent Him to tell the stories. His own family mocked him, because He was only a carpenter son. But his mother was someone who was told by angelic beings that she was an honored mother who would be conceived not by a man, but the Spirit of God. Her soon to be husband didn’t like news of her pregnancy either, but after much prayer and thought this carpenter son would be hated, despised and tortured and crucified for stating He was the Messiah.

Still today the world and “we” look for love in all the wrong places with so many possible choices to make, why do many of them lead to the wrong ones versus the right ones? Perhaps that is why they say it is better to experience love than never experience it all. These two stories both relate to love.

One a Birth of a child who would be born in a manger, this child who was given up as His only child.

And a Death of a person who would take on all the sins of mankind to rekindle a relationship with a Creator.

Both with reasons for – – LOVE. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that none should perish, and that all would have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Was it enough? And if so why over 2000 years later is love not more valued, chased after, and pursued? Why is it that relationships have no commitment efforts and why people would rather not commit to one another for fear that it perhaps would not work out.

Today this holiday season there is still a chance for love to work out if we were willing to put more effort. It may require that you forgive another time, than walk away from something that you possibly could not replace. I have made many mistakes, and will admit that life requires all of us to be responsible for our actions of love. They are reminders of all the challenges and the value to do it all over again, possibly with a better attitude and commitment to go the whole journey not just to the first detour that was available.

God sent His only Son to make a difference in the world. He knew there was going to be a lot of them (us) that would not believe the stories and accept the gift with no strings attached to have a new relationship withHim. He didn’t say there wouldn’t be losers or individuals who would not hurt us, or run away when things got tough? He just promised He would be there and never leave us ever.

I remember this story a few Christmases ago. My wife told me to go and give a man a twenty dollar bill who was in the parking lot. We both knew the man, and I took the twenty dollar bill and attempted to give it to the man. He replied, “I cannot take it, as I will have to pay it back.” I advised him, that he would owe me nothing, and he said to me “why would I not have to pay it back?” I was getting more frustrated and then replied, “God told my wife to give you this money, and it is a gift from God – – no strings attached!”

I finally convinced Him as he looked at the bill and then shoved it in his pocket. I heard him yell at me as I went back into the store, “Hey mister, Merry Christmas.” I smiled and thought it sure is difficult to give something away free these days.

I hope if you are reading this blog, you will consider what you can give away free with no strings attached. Love doesn’t cost anything other than a willingness to trust that someone will love back in response. Yea, it has the potential to be risky, but it is possibly because you need to be loved. God promised no strings attached and a lifetime with Him.

Consider listening to this Christmas song as you think who you could share your love with – – no strings attached. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4_7eoTT0gA

Ready to get back in the race?

Dream I had today

I am on this journey to walk with Him. I must carry my sword (word) and share all the stories with others how He wants to meet all of them. You see this man they called Jesus was on a journey walking to meet all of us to be on this journey together till we finally get home and spend eternity with Him.

We will have distractions that keep us from finishing the journey but He reminds me of a promise that He will never leave us and others will come along with us as we travel this journey together with Him. This journey will have struggles but when I trust in Him the journey will lead to something special that is designed for all of us , that He calls as friends.

It is important that we all get up and encourage others to get their walking sticks and the word to share the stories He told the disciples. These stories will remind all that we meet on the road how much He loves you. You may have went through some tuff things, but He reminds us that in this journey together, we will face many obstacles, but His word is and always will be good for us no matter what we face. He is with us all the way till we get home.

Don’t be discouraged wherever you may be today, but allow the Holy Spirit to get you back in the right direction. Pick up your walking stick and remember all the words He shares on your journey. Write each of them down to remind you that He is faithful to every one of us. The journey will have difficult spots but that will only remind you He will take us through anything because He is greater than any difficult situation that we face. “ Greater is He that is in us, than that is in the world.”

Friend it may be time to remind yourself and others that we have been tasked to get all that will listen that no matter how or where we might be, it is time today to get on the straight and narrow road to encourage and help others to not wait till they get better, or be fixed; because He has always accepted others the way they were like the woman He met at the well, He was not interested in her situation but interested in getting in the right direction. She knew that only the Messiah knew of where she was and He didn’t condemn her, He assured her that He would provide living water for her to get back on the journey.

The woman that was suffering with a terrible disease. She seen all the doctors and spent all her money and if she only get one touch of Him, she would be made whole and she would be able to share with others that she had touched Him and be made whole. Her story reminds us that no disease is to difficult for Him, perhaps you or others you know may need a touch to be made whole. He my friend is no different today than He was yesterday or thousands of days before. He still cares and everyone that confronted Him was denied.

It is time to capture the promise He told everyone that we could believe and touch anyone to be made whole in His name Jesus. We need to know that there is and never will be to difficult for Him. Share His love, share with others what He has done for you. Your stories are testimony of His faithfulness. We have the ability to share the love of this person who has prepared each one of us a journey to share each and every day that we don’t have to loose hope, because the price has been paid for every sin, mistake and wrong decision to a straight and narrow road for each one of us to follow.

There will be many who will want to discourage each one of us from traveling this journey, but there have been many others who have followed it and when you feel something or someone to not loose hope they are the ones who have finished the race and encouraging us to not loose hope, what we have been told is true and in just a little while we will see the end of our journey, and we to will be able to be together.

It is never to late to get back in the race. But only you can decide to get up and help others back in the right direction. Please tell them your story and help them to get in the race to heaven. We all need to encourage everyone that it is still not to late to get in the right direction. But if we knew only how close this journey will end, we would all be willing to run to the end…but perhaps there is one person who needs your help. Don’t loose hope in helping like the Good Samaritan did on his journey.

It is your choice and no one else’s to get in the right direction and help anyone who needs help. That is what He wants us to do. He will provide everything that is needed and awaits for anyone to travel to the end of this journey with Him. Don’t quit, get discouraged or say there is no hope. Hope is no further away, than just a shut away.

I have made my decision to get back on the road to help and encourage anyone I meet. Beware there will be many things that you will face, but don’t loose hope as my friend Jesus is just a shout away from running to meet you, i pray that you my friend will get back in the race to the end.

THE GREATEST GIFT EVER

DESCRIPTION: If you had the ability to wish for the greatest gift you would like to receive what would it be?

VERSE: For God so loved the world, he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believed in Him would not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Even though Christmas has been only a few months back, I am certain some of us have a special memory of a gift that you received last Christmas. And some of you are already dreaming about what you would like to get this year. But I come upon this story I read a while back and thought it would be fun to share today with you from Mairangic Church http://www.mairangichurch.org .

A lady wanted to buy some Christmas gifts for her special friends. In the busy weeks before Christmas, time ran out on her & so she gave up her idea of buying gifts. She decided instead to send each friend a Christmas card. It would be a bit cheaper than gifts & easier. She was very pleased to find a pack of 50 cards. She liked the picture on the front. “That’s perfect’” she thought to herself. Once home she quickly signed all the cards, “With all my love” & mailed them to her friends. Two weeks later after New Year, she happened to look more carefully at one of the left-over cards from that pack of 50. She was shocked to read the printed message inside the card, which obviously she had not noticed before. It said, “This Christmas card is just to say, a little gift is on its way.”

It may sound humorous but sometimes when we desire to purchase the special gift for our loved ones and friends, we forget to look at the small details. Possibly we didn’t clearly hear what the person really wanted or perhaps when the picture was brought up on Google we didn’t spend enough time looking at the item. And if you’re like me we lost the paper in which I wrote the item on and to embarrassed to call, text or email to get the special gift description again.

Whatever the answer is, we still have the gallant quest to search and find the special gift for our special person. Many of us will spend hours shopping and making certain we get the very best for our loved ones, and money is no object all we have in our heads is the look on their face when they unwrap this special gift from us. That is probably best part of this quest, “the gift was from ME, and no one else.” This makes the quest even more important as we don’t want to hear someone bragging that the best gift ever was purchased by someone else!

I have been on these quests many times looking for the best gift for my family members and too often found that the one perfect gift was purchased by every body in town or the item was no longer available to be purchased. How sad, and now I had to come up with another idea. Even if I purchased the loved one with a gift card, I am certain that if someone else had not beaten me to the store for the item, my loved one would have the same if not worse reaction when searching on the internet, the item was no longer available. No one would be more unhappy than me. I was given the special request and failed at my task.

This bring me to another person who was attempting to fix a gift issue as well. You see he was perplexed with creation that he created perfectly with the intent to worship and love Him. But when He created them, He gave them free will; that is the ability to choose right from wrong and He would not press His will or desire on them – – ever. Everything was going well until one day the rules was broken. Oh, I forgot to tell you that there was rules for the creation to live by on earth.

We all have heard the story of Adam and Eve and the eating of the forbidden fruit. And because they ate from the tree that was forbidden they did not die, but were cast out of the wonderful garden and to face the perils of Earth as all humanity has been given this same task. It seemed the opportunity of free will caused so much wrong in the world that God (CREATOR) had to come up with a plan to save his creation because God could not look at the Sin that had surfaced all over the Earth. God loved His creation but hated the sin.

So He said to Himself, I will save the family who loves me and have them build an ark and bring the animals on this ark and cause a great flood and start all over again. You might say he hit ALT/CONTROL/DELETE on His computer and started over. We all have done that again when a perfect laid plan didn’t work out, RIGHT. Again that is part of free will for all of us today. The ability to start over – – even if we were responsible for the error to the situation.

Well, as we all know about the Noah and the Ark story, we know Noah’s family and the animals were saved but when creation started to be born all over again, the same free will caused mankind to revert back to the sinful desires and God had the same problem again. I am certain knowing that God could have seen that the problem would be happening again, could have just went on a nice long vacation and never attempted to love mankind ever again – – but He didn’t have that in his heart for any of us, so He created another perfect plan. This plan would work for sure, and He was certain-because He was creating a plan that would ERASE ANY SIN FOREVER.

WOW! This would have been hard to grasp that every time I made a mistake, no matter what it was, I could be forgiven and that mistake would never be remembered ever. In our verse for today the special gift was God’s son. And it was not just His Son – – but His only Son He owned. You see, God was willing to send His precious only Son to Earth to become part of us, live with us, and die for all the SINS from the beginning to the END of time. The time limit for all of us to accept this special gift was from the beginning to the end of our life.

We recently remembered this story of the sacrificial death as we celebrate Easter where the plan that God’s Son Jesus surrendered His life for all the sins of humanity. You see there is a plan in place for each one of us to be reconciled back to the Father so we can have eternal life and not be separated from God ever, while we live here on Earth and when we die we can live with Him-in Heaven forever. And we can have all this because of His special gift. He made all this possible because of His great love for all of us.

There is other gifts that God gave us as well, they are packaged below:

* JOY, we discovered that joy, real deep-down joy, is to be found in a Person, and that Person is Jesus.

* PEACE, we discovered that true peace, the peace that does not depend upon the circumstances, is also found in Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

* HOPE, we discovered that true hope, hope for today and hope for the future, can only be ours when we put our trust and confidence in the Lord Jesus, the Hope of the World.

Jesus reminded all of us that the greatest GIFT we could give anyone was LOVE. I am certain He was thinking of what His father would have said because LOVE was the perfect gift to give anyone. Think of the last argument you had, if love would have been used in the discussion, perhaps there would have not been a disagreement. What about separation from a family member, if love would have been present there would have not been anyone leaving. This would be the same for divorce or quitting a job, or leaving your best friend behind and never talking to them ever again, all because there was no love in it at all.

The world would be a better place if we could erase all the problems around us, but if would give love to the problems, would the situation look better or worse? It is our free will to offer the gift of love to any situation. Most of us would say that the persons does not deserve our love, because they have not EARNED IT! But God’s love can not be earned it is freely given to all.

One last note on giving gifts to one another. Forgiveness is a great example of love that Jesus showed us and delivered to all humanity from His father. But the reason love was the greatest was because to love some one is also forgiving them when they do wrong to us. Look at what Jesus said:

“In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God, for instance, without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part.” Matthew 6:14-15

Today and everyday is an opportunity to share the most special gift we could all offer anyone. Maybe today we could share an expression of love with a word or act of kindness. Maybe we all need to stretch our love by forgiving someone who we have separated from and what we are not implying is that we condone their wrongful actions – – but we still love them . You see no one is perfect and I am happy that God will forgive me and love me no matter what I do wrong – – because we are family. My earthly dad reminds me that it maybe difficult to forgive you for some of your wrongful doings, but when I ponder that God can forgive me for anything – – it JUST MAKES SENSE. I need to do my part and allow God to do what I can’t in this life. What the world needs now is LOVE!

HEAVEN’S FLOORS

Description: A portion of the Lord’s prayer from the book of Matthew has caused me to see an elighqment many of us may not sense or see greater possibilities we can be digging in deeper in our prayer closets.

Verse: Your kingdom come. Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:10

All of us have learned the Lord’s Prayer, perhaps in our youth and perhaps later in life. It really doesn’t matter for this note, but perhaps this message will cause you to seek God in a different manner as you think about verse 10 in this very often quoted prayer. Bill Johnson’s book, “When Heaven Invades Earth,” is an eye opening book that challenges every reader to grasp this statement from the author:

Heaven invades earth when there is an agreement here (on earth) to what exists there (heaven). “” Bill Johnson

It was eye opening that not when I seek the kingdom of God first, all the other things will be added into my life (Matthew 6:33), but God desires for all of us to have knowledge of heaven on earth, before He takes us home. This is a good prayer time in all of our closets to seek a deeper revelation of verse ten today to see His will on earth as it truly is in heaven with Him.

When we seek heaven to come to our level of thinking, it is possible to seek heaven to be part of our life here on earth. I have sensed God closer in my prayers when I know heaven is all around me. Have you ever grasped this thought? If heaven is all around you what can penetrate your surroundings? Is it possible for evil to exists where good is all abound?

“If I accept only good things can exists in heaven, (because God is boss) and evil cannot coexist, then if heaven is near me than evil cannot be present and only God’s best can operate. Good thought to write down and ponder.”

(This could be a great word to have in places where you can get this thought in your heart, BECAUSE it is God’s will.)

  1. Just imagine sickness cannot exists where heaven is located.
  2. Just imagine anger cannot exists where heaven is located.
  3. Just imagine hunger cannot exists where heaven is located.
  4. Just imagine poverty cannot exists where heaven is located.
  5. Just imagine violence cannot exists where heaven is located.

I am certain that you are all saying, sure only in heaven this is real and that is why we all look forward to go to heaven. RIGHT? But all the topics I mentioned above will not be in heaven because of only one word – – LOVE. So if we were all obedient in the one thing that Jesus said before he went back to heaven.

“So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.” John 13:34

If love was prevalent in this world, the famous song “We are the World,” would be a true testimony that we got a true grasp of the commandment to love one another. There is a deeper wealth in studying this command in loving one another that would cause all of us to crying for God’s forgiveness from the top down. None of us should be excluded from the simple task to loving one another. Think about it, work would be a greater place to go and the boss would be whistling happy songs instead of gloom and despair!

Today think about what heaven would be like of the first floor of heaven was transferred to your current location. It may not possibly change your surroundings, but it is just possible it could open doors to better moments and better days ahead, BECAUSE it is God’s will for us to experience heaven here on earth, and POSSIBLY make it easier to LOVE one another better!

The word is alive and USEFUL only if we allow it to apply in every aspect in our lives. Sounds crazy, but I am praying for it in my world, and I am certain there is enough of God and HEAVEN for all of us. Just think if everyone was singing:

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Zip-A-Dee-A

My oh my, what a wonderful day

Plenty of sunshine heading my way

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Zip-A-Dee-A

We all would have a WONDERFUL DAY, and it is just possible if we would grasp that we could bring a piece of the floor of heaven to our world. God bless.

Celebrate And Keep The Story Going

CONTINUATION) THE RED BUTTON HAS BEEN PUSHED)

CELEBRATE WHILE YOU CAN

DESCRIPTION: Everyone loves to celebrate, but the truth of the matter is not everyone wants to celebrate what you see worth celebrating- – but it could be a personal celebration.

VERSE; He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Matthew 28:6

I hear cries outside, wait let me go and look and see what all the excitement is about. I went to my door and seen people gathering and there appeared that there was two different groups of people on the streets. Some that seem excited and some that were horribly upset. I thought for a moment before entering the streets, “Should I subject myself to what the quarreling was about?”

I opened the door slowly when I heard the debate amongst the two groups. “Our Savior has risen just like He said would, Praise be to God!” And others seems to be screaming their own proclamation. “There is no real proof, some of His disciples stole Him from the grave to make us all believe this story, liars all of you are liars!” Both parties seemed to only want to express their sides of the news, while others kept to themselves whispering to one another.

I hurried back inside wondering which party had the real facts and why one not believe the other, or was it really true the Messiah young man I mentioned the other day actually was risen from the grave, and that is the real reason for excitement from all the Christians this Easter holiday. It was obvious there was as much disappointment from half the crowd, as they were not excited that the words of the Messiah were true as He said or at least physically, it was true, that is if you don’t believe that the disciples removed His body. Why would they do that? Only a few of them actually was present at the cross of His death. Why would they come out of hiding now? Embarrassed or just trying to make a good front of their friend.

I mean I would have done something to help my friend, if I believed in Him. That would make sense why the others were excited. Wait I hear some women now talking out side. “We saw Him, we sawJesus outside the tomb. He told us to gather the disciples and He would meet them here real soon. Wow, if I doubted the story before, this seems like great facts. The women didn’t seem to want to influence the angry mob, but the others seem to quickly leave outside.

I doubt I would have access to where the group was rushing but decided I wanted to hear for myself. I quickly followed them as they went upstairs to a room. I made sure I was not seen and kept in the background and followed them into the house. They all were whispering to one another when all of a sudden a bright light entered the room, and there before my own eyes was this young man they called Jesus. He sat down in the front of the room as everyone immediately went up to Him and shared his hand and embraced the friend that they all thought had died, but now lived. Wow I was getting chills on my hands. But wait another man has entered the room, they say his name was Thomas.

Jesus looked up all of a sudden, and then says to Thomas, “ Please place your hands in the palm of my hand and feel the nail prints, and my side where they pierced me.” The man came up cautiously, and did exactly what was requested and then fell to his knees embracing with belief what he was now seeing. I too, saw the excitement and in just a second it seemed that Jesus was looking at me and I heard Him ask me, “Choose what you want to believe, it is your choice.”

I quickly ran out of the room when I didn’t want to become a spectacle or get into any trouble. As I got out of the room and was walking down the street, the question that I was just asked, “choose what you want to believe, it is your choice.” Quickly transformed me back into my familiar room with my opposition asking, “What is so difficult of the question? It really is an easy question.” I thought to myself as I followed this story, it was but the sense of urgency became more important to “Why and why now was it important.”

Then I remembered one of the other statements I had heard earlier. “He come that all might be saved, and none would be lost, and have life eternally.” It started to make sense that every one of us could profit by this story, this person and this death. It was a win-win for all of us. I turned around and said to my opponent, “I choose Him.” And my opposition replied, “great choice, you win.”

It seemed all the importance of choice was over, but when I thought the big decision was over, I was asked one more question, “Will you convince your friends and the rest of the world, to choose Me?” Immediately Jesus comes out in front of me and says, “I did it for all of you, please help them choose me, so no one will perish, and everyone will have the same chance to be with me in heaven, just like the man who was crucified with me on Friday.”

REALLY FRIDAY ALREADY

CONTINUATION) THE RED BUTTON HAS BEEN PUSHED)

REALLY – – FRIDAY ALREADY

DESCRIPTION: What is Good Friday and why do we call Good Friday “good,” when it is such a dark and bleak event commemorating a day of suffering and death for Jesus?

VERSE: But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him. Now that we are set right with God by means of this sacrificial death, the consummate blood sacrifice, there is no longer a question of being at odds with God in any way. If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Romans 5:8-10

Today the Christians celebrate today as Good Friday, the day that the Son of God was crucified on a cross for all the sins of mankind from the beginning till the end of humanity. And three days later they all rejoice and celebrate a risen Messiah prophesied that He would raise from the dead. No matter what your religious values or beliefs are that speaks volumes of a man who was willing to surrender his life for all humanity. I have seen soldiers surrender their lives for the flag in which they took solemn oaths to preserve and protect and even if required – – willing to lay down their lives.

The religious leaders who were prophesied for years about the coming of the Messiah, didn’t recognize Him, didn’t believe Him, rejected Him and then ultimately crucified this Man who only came to bear witness of the Father’s love for mankind, in spite of turning our back on Him. You may be saying I didn’t reject Him, and it is possible you may not even know Him, or more importantly have a relationship with Him. That was His main purpose was for you to know Him and have a relationship with Him.

Perhaps if they had the opportunity to go back and start the journey all over again, unless they had their experiences and memory to go back as well, they would probably make the same mistakes. No different if we had the opportunity to go back in time to correct an error or poor decision we made in the past. But we are not afforded that opportunity. We typically only get one chance to make the correct decision.

Oh I am sorry, I have to get back to task about me making the correct decision today with regards to the start of this story. First, it is hard to imagine anyone would be willing to go through all the things that occurred to this man they called – -Jesus. If you have not seen the movie, Passion of Christ, it will help you grasp all the things that one man was willing to endure and walk through without any grumbling to His father.

My dad and I have had discussions on this man Jesus and why he would do all of this even if it was just for me! And if you think that is unbelievable, He would have done it even it was just for you. I am certain my dad would have taken a bullet for me, and I would have taken a bullet for any of my children. But that is because of one reason – – family. Why would Jesus be willing to do this just for me, and more shockingly for all of us! That is so unreal for one person.

Good Friday, baloney! How can this be good if one man is selected of all the other potential choices. Even when the religious leaders demanded Him to be put to death, the political leaders refused to put to death an innocent man. And offered the religious leaders a criminal to pay for the sins, and the crowds as well demanded that this innocent man be put to death by crucifixion. Look at the definition of this horrible death:

Crucifixion is a method of capital punishment in which the victim is tied or nailed to a large wooden beam and left to hang for several days until eventual death from exhaustion and asphyxiation.

Today is celebrated because it was a mission that was laid out and had to be completed. That mission had no detours, no means of escape, and no possibility of being paroled. Even before He was taken by the angry mob and soldiers He cried to His Father if there was another way – – if not He was willing to say, “Not my will, Father, but yours.” Just imagine if every judge did not have to go through agony with proving innocence or guilt and each person willing to quickly pay whatever for their mistakes. Jesus’s trials and hearings were quick. He was even beat unmercifully as no other man had been beaten, and then required to haul his own cross through the streets tired, hungry, and hurting with no pain killers administered.

As He approached the mount where He and two others who deserved this punishment, were required to lay down on the grown on top of this cross beam. His clothes that were left, were ripped from his body, and then large stakes nailed in his hands and feet then hung up in the air to be a spectacle for the crowds. They say as the morning grew near the noon hour, there was darkness and this man Jesus felt that His Father now had turned His back on Him. Only a few of His followers remained with His mother till his life was over and His last words, “It is Finished!”

This may seem to be a reason to celebrate if we were listening to the man’s simple message to repent and love one another. I guess the repenting was admitting of the things that I had done wrong in this life with a hope of second chance to start all over. It seems like a great idea, but what is the real issue? I have seen a lot of wrong things, and I can honestly say if it was my choice I don’t know if I would forgive some of these people.

I was then reminded that this was not my decision to judge others, unless I wanted to be judged. I quickly became silent and was a bit afraid to ask how much time was left before I make my decision. I was told I need to reflect on the things of what I learned today and that we would be talking again real soon.
