Verse: I’m singing joyful praise to God. I’m turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God. Habakkuk 3:18
In the Old Testament we get real truth of the matters of life, and normally not easy to chew on, but after pondering and seeking the wisdom of God, we submit to God’s plan in lieu of ours. This Old Testament story is short and the point that matters is sometimes overlooked, because of the selfish attitude we have isn’t willing to listen to the truth of the matter.
I have this little statement on my desk, “Why Me?” all the way to retirement and know looking at it, I hear the spirit speak to me, “Why not?” I just hate it really when someone who is going through something, will not be honest and they just answer to the question– how are things going? And they respond with — things couldn’t be any better.
In this story the people who should have listened to God and change their ways were only making excuses for their religion actions. And there was a plan to send other who didn’t know God’s plan to get their attention from God. Let me make it perfectly clear God hates sin, and there is no other way to put it. We don’t let family members or others get away with wrongful deeds, because we love them and want the best for them. God is the same way with His children.
Habakkuk’s determined quickly that he needed to be listening and seeking God for answers to life’s questions. He waits and he listens. It is in his waiting and listening — which then turns into his praying — that he found himself inhabiting the large world of God’s sovereignty. Only there did he eventually realize that the believing-in-God life, the steady trusting-in-God life, is the full life, the only real life.
No matter how old the story goes for each one of us, there is a simple answer to many issues we go through this life. Habakkuk started out exactly where we start out with our puzzled complaints and God-accusations, but he didn’t stay there. He ended up in a world, along with us, where every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. I think a good replacement to my saying “Why me Lord? — should be — “If God is for me who can be against me?”
God assures each one of us who claim to be his children:
God has great plans for our lives AND He will finish the work in our life to perfection.
Prayer: Lord please forgive my attitude about my struggles, help me to remember your words from the Bible, and when feeling the world has let me down–you haven’t and NEVER will. Amen
Life will have its ups and downs, but when we can be joyful in the storm we truly amplify that a REAL GOD is in charge of our lives.
