Description: Sometimes when life tends to throw us a curve ball, we still need to realize that we have the same power to get through the storms of this life.

Verse: The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11

I am certain we all have our favorite stories where Jesus performed miracles during His time on earth, but it is more important to realize that the SAME POWER is open and available to all who believe in Him can step out in faith and ask for the same power to move ANY mountain in this life.

Think about the story of the great miracle with a few loaves of bread and some fished fed all the people and there was leftovers to be a blessing to others. I have heard of a testimony where some students decided to attend a nearby school and feed over 200 students. They begin to look at their pot of soup to give to every child and feared, it would not be adequately enough to feed all the students. As they dipped the ladle to serve each student they were experiencing enough to feed each student. God showed up and fed everyone.

What about the story where Jesus raised people who had died, and then each time woke each person back to life? I know one Evangelists named Smith Wigglesworth, who prayed for his wife and brought her back from the dead. She got frustrated with her husband, and replied, “Smith don’t call me back again, I was in heaven and it was so wonderful.

I am certain without any problem it would be easy to access many miracles that happened here on earth by mere mortals, who BELIEVED they could ask God for help, and trust He would show up.

How about the verse in the Bible on moving the mountain.

“Because you’re not yet taking God seriously,” said Jesus. “The simple truth is that if you had a mere kernel of faith, a poppy seed, say, you would tell this mountain, ‘Move!’ and it would move. There is nothing you wouldn’t be able to tackle.” Matthew 17:20

I have many times cried out to God to protect our neighborhood from a vicious storm, because I knew it was possible, and when the storm did not touch our neighborhood, I thanked God for hearing our prayers.

If you want to see miracles you have to believe in them first. And if you ask God when he did something in your life that you have forgotten, (we all do) we can then know the same God who came to the rescue is the same God today, tomorrow or any other day.. If we can easily believe something that we can influence to bring a blessing to someone else, how much more is it possible that God who did it all is still able to do what He did thousands of years ago?
“We must have the devotion and the confidence to believe that He will not fail and cannot fail. You will never get anywhere if you rely on your feelings, there is something a thousand times better than our own feelings and it’s the Living Word of God! There is a divine revelation within you and me that came when we were born above, this is real faith.” (Smith Wigglesworth)

There is story after story of people like Smith Wigglesworth, who took God at His word. Or in other words, “God said it, and that’s good enough for me!” The choice is ours we have the same power to call on our redeemer to come to our rescue. And Jesus told His disciples that he was going to leave them with the power of the Holy Spirit to give them not just the power he revealed–but greater!

Today smile at your situation, because we can have the power to remove the problem or power to endure through any situation. The choice is ours, and if we who are called as his sons and daughters took on our true identity of Christ, we could have a better perspective in life and work more toward showing the world our risen Savior is NOT DEAD –BUT STILL ALIVE!

Prayer: Thank you Holy Spirit for assuring me that the same power I read in the scriptures is available to me to call upon for any situation. Amen

Description:The cross is worn on the necks of so many people, but they don’t know what it means. What does it mean to you?

Verse: If, when we were at our worst, we were put on friendly terms with God by the sacrificial death of his Son, now that we’re at our best, just think of how our lives will expand and deepen by means of his resurrection life! Romans 5:10

The Cross is quite the symbol. Pretty much recognized anywhere. If you don’t think of Jesus specifically, then you’re probably thinking about something religious or spiritual. Regardless, it’s one of the most recognizable symbols ever. You cannot go into any jewelry store and not see cross. I even have shirts that bear the cross.

I noticed today when my wife and I went to lunch, that a woman was wearing a necklace that had a cross. I love to watch and look at people and wonder who they really are on the inside. But as we all know, what we see is not always the evidence of real truth. But it caused me to wonder these questions:

 * Was this person wearing the cross because it had sentimental value because thy received it as a gift?

 * Was it a symbol of their faith or did they belong to a religious group?

 * Was the cross a symbol of a person who had faith and only wanted to look on the outside they were religious?

I remember the movie Passion of Christ, and all the grueling scenes in this movie where Jesus told the story that His Father sent him to die for all humanity. Sin separates us from having a real relationship with God. “For God so loved the world he gave his only Son (Jesus), that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

This movie portrayed all the steps to Jesus with ultimately His death on a cross for all of our sins. Sin was so bad that there was only one person who could pay the price for all of our sins. Even the person you don’t like God loves. Many times we confuse our parts in this life about sin. God loves every sinner, but that does not mean He condones any of us to keep in our sinful habits. It’s choices for each one of us to make everyday.

When I wear my cross, it reminds me of what God did for me, and what I could not do for myself. Jesus was perfect without any sin. All of us our born into this sinful world and one day, we make a decision to no longer live like the world, and become a Christian and live it 24/7. Sure we will make mistakes, everyone does, but when we quit making the same mistake over and over, and allow the Holy Spirit to turn or direct us in the right paths we are in a harmonious relationship with God.

The cross will not make you any more religious by wearing or hanging in your home. The cross reminds us that the best gift of love is available to all of us. When we choose to live in the right ways, and not walk in the sinful past, we have a real hope to be with Jesus someday in heaven. But it starts with a real relationship with Jesus and not a religious ornament to deceive the world or our neighbors and friends of who we really are in Christ.

The bottom line answer lies in the earth-shattering truth that on the third day after he died and was buried Jesus rose from the dead. A cross with a human body hanging on it completely misrepresents the Christian message. The symbol of Christianity is an empty cross, because the Bible’s glorious message is that Jesus is alive today, having triumphed gloriously over sin and death.

I am hopeful that all who wear a cross or display it, have a real reason to have it for themselves. The real answer is a relationship, because everyone will see the changed person who is around them. If you wear a cross, this would be a great tool to share your testimony with someone else why you like crosses.

Prayer: Lord I am thankful for the price you paid on the cross for my sins. Help me to have opportunities to share what the cross means to me to someone today. Amen
